On Thursday, Gwen Stefani received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her husband Blake Shelton was on hand to deliver a heartfelt speech at the ceremony which brought Stefani to tears. Shelton called his wife “the perfect person to receive a star on the Walk of Fame.”

Shelton began his speech by reflecting on the first time he met Stefani, on the set of The Voice in 2014. He recalled that she brought her kids to set with her, sharing, “It was clear to me that she was a mother first and foremost over anything else in the world.”

The country star joked that Stefani was being “honored for her side project, which is being one of the biggest stars in the world.” He said that the world has fallen in love with her, adding, “Not as much as me, though.”

Shelton called songwriting Stefani’s “favorite thing to do,” adding that she “happens to be exceptionally talented at it.” He called her his “all-time favorite songwriter,” congratulating her on the honor of receiving a star.

He finished his speech by saying, “You deserve this, and I love you.” Stefani was in tears for pretty much the entire speech, at one point dabbing her eyes with a tissue.

Stefani Thanked Shelton in Her Speech

Stefani also delivered a speech at her Walk of Fame ceremony, reflecting on the journey of her career. She took a moment to thank Shelton, calling him her “best friend.” She told him, “You have given me the kind of love I never knew before.”

“The minute I met you, I knew I was home,” Stefani said. “And I’m so, so proud that you’re mine. I can’t believe it. I love you so much.”

Stefani also said that “the greatest gift of all” was being a mother to her three sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, whom she called her “biggest blessings.” She told them, “I can’t believe that I get to be your mom. I am so proud of you guys.”

The star ended her speech by shouting out her fans, telling them, “I would not be here without you guys. It has been a beautiful exchange of love.”
