America’s Got Talent standout Evie Clair’s emotional performance moved Simon Cowell to tears. Cowell is one of the toughest judges on reality TV. From American Idol to America’s Got Talent, Cowell has taken his king of talent show judges title seriously. The Season 12 star’s performance for a spot in the final was one to remember.
Evie first garnered fame on America’s Got Talent after dedicating a rendition of Christina Perri’s “Arms” to her father as he battled Stage 4 colon cancer. The singer received 4 yeses and competed up until the Top 5.
For Evie’s semifinal performance of Ella Henderson’s “Yours,” The 13 year old sat at her piano. Beautiful lavender flowers filled the stage. The light projected made shadow figures of the violinists who performed with her.
“Your dad will be so proud of you,” Cowell said before his voice cracked.
Tyra Banks had to console Evie after her performance. Emotions were high as Evie’s father, Amos Abplanalp, watched from his hospital bed. He died a day after his daughter advanced to the finals.
The moment between Evie and Cowell racked up nearly 300 million views online. Although many may not believe it, Cowell has become known for being an open and vulnerable judge. Only when the time calls for it.

After ‘America’s Got Talent’
Evie released her album Okay Day in 2018. That same year she starred in The Unbelievables Christmas Spectacular in Reno, Nevada as the headline act. Evie also headlined a concert in New York City with The Village People.
The singer has been a champion for cancer awareness in honor of her late father. Evie made headlines when she posted a letter to America’s Got Talent star Nightbirde when the contestant talked about her battle with cancer.
The singer married her boyfriend of four years in 2021. Evie has been an active member in her church and has transitioned to singing more inspirational songs. She continues to tour as well as work on new music. Fans can expect her 20- song religious album to hit streaming soon.
Evie is also currently enrolled in BYU-Idaho college. Led by her faith, Evie decided to study computer science.
