While Luann de Lesseps has accepted her fate on The Masked Singer, she was nonetheless wishing to lengthen her stay. The Real Housewives of New York City star was eliminated on episode six of the competition series after performing “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls.

Wearing those oversized petals as Hibiscus, De Lesseps’ efforts to keep her identity hidden were unsuccessful. McCarthy seemed to have immediately known the person behind Hibiscus, thanks to the connections she founded in The Big Apple.

Speaking to Goldderby, Lesseps noted her longtime friendship with McCarthy. It thus made sense for the reality entertainer that the Spellers star would be the celebrity in the who would most likely recognize her voice.

“Jenny McCarthy, I’ve known her for so long,” she said. “She knows my voice. She knows my stature. Being a nurse, our kids went to school with each other. I’ve known Jenny a long time. She knows a lot about me, like the de Lesseps gave the Statue of Liberty to the United States from the French. I mean, only Jenny would know that. She’s gotten very smart at this.”

Being a cabaret performer, Lesseps expected that the difficulty of performing would be similar. Now though, reflecting on the experience, joining The Masked Singer as Hibiscus was a “totally different thing.”

“I think they make it look easy. It’s very claustrophobic when you first put it on and it takes getting used to. You have no peripheral vision, you don’t even know where to hold the mic. That’s a challenging thing to do and to be able to perform and sound good.”

Despite so, Lesseps regards her The Masked Singer journey as “incredibly fun.” Believing that she “did the best I could do,” the reality TV star was happy to have done something out of her comfort zone.

She Has a Number of Gigs on Her Plate

Even though Lesseps is already done with The Masked Singer, her schedule still has not much space. For the upcoming season of Canada’s Drag Race, she will appear as a guest judge.

“That was so much fun! I’ve always wanted to do Drag Race. The queens work really hard. They make their own costumes. They have to perform. I have so much respect for them,” she said.

In February 2024, Lesseps will star in a new production called Marry F Kill at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

Moreover, Lesseps will also be coming back to her housewife origins. She will be joining the cast of the next season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Furthermore, she is also currently on tour in her own cabaret show Countess Cabaret.

“It’s a ride through pop culture, cabaret and comedy mixed together,” she said. “I take music and I turn it on its head. I make it my own.”
