Meet Ryley Tate Wilson, The Youngest Four-Chair Turner of 'The Voice' Season 23

Ryley Tate Wilson graced The Voice season 23 as a 15-year-old singer whose vocal runs “weren’t planned but felt.” Now that he’s been guaranteed a spot in the Playoffs, Ryley wishes to prove that a young star like him can actually make it to the Finale. Let’s get to know him more.
Ryley Tate Wilson Got Four Chair Turns
With his unique cover of Calum Scott’s “Dancing On My Own,” Ryley Tate Wilson was able to impress both coaches and viewers as early as the Blinds. He ended his audition performance with four chair turns, then choosing Niall Horan as his coach.
Ryley came from Montgomery, Alabama, having music as his companion ever since he was a kid. According to his The Voice bio, Ryley “turned anything and everything into a drum set” before he was four. Later on, he showed interest in learning keyboard and guitar.
“He never wanted to be away from music, so his mom drew him a keyboard on cardboard, so he could practice on the go: at church, in the car and at restaurants,” his bio reads.
As years passed by, Ryley realized that he wanted to pursue music and create his own songs. Thus, he saved up to purchase a recording software and attempted to learn music production. Moreover, Ryley involves himself in music by performing in their local theater and singing for his church youth group.
He Advances to Season 23 Live Playoffs
Earning a playoff pass, Ryley has thus skipped the Knockout Round. Now, he’s gearing up for the Live Playoffs to maintain his spot in Team Niall. Yet, despite being focused on The Voice, he is already preparing for life outside the competition. He recently revealed that he’s currently in the process of making solo music.
“I’ve been working on my solo music while I’ve been home, while [The Voice] episodes have been airing,” he said. “I’m working on writing and producing my first album, which I’m super, super excited to do. I love all the songs on it.”
