The Voice alum Morgan Wallen has opened up about how becoming a father to his 2-year-old son Indigo changed him. The country singer shared that welcoming his song has given him “something different to live for.”
Morgan Wallen Talks About Becoming a Father
Wallen shares his son Indigo (born in July 2020) with his ex-girlfriend KT Smith. The singer spoke to Breakfast Television about how becoming a father affected his life.
“I don’t know if I’d say I was selfish always, but I probably was before that,” Wallen said about life before fatherhood. “But now things just have a whole different meaning for me. So even in the highs and the lows, I always have him. All the time, he’s there. He’s what’s important to me.”
Wallen shared that Indigo is “starting to show signs that he might be” interested in sports, as the singer got him “a little tee and bat and ball, and a trampoline with a basketball goal in it.” He added, “I’m not gonna make him love sports, but hopefully he does.”
Earlier this year, Wallen released a song called “Dying Man.” He shared of the song, “I’m singing to a woman. In real life, this song is dedicated to my son. He has changed everything for me and has been a real blessing.”

Then last month, the singer postponed the next six weeks of his tour and canceled his appearance at the ACM Awards. He told fans that doctors had put him on vocal rest after he re-injured his vocal cords and experienced vocal fold trauma.
On May 13, Wallen celebrated his 30th birthday. The singer posted a few photos on Instagram with his son Indigo for the occasion, writing, “Celebrating 30 w my dawg.”
