Dancing with the Stars Season 31 contestant D.J. “Shangela” Pierce recently got to chat with Paula Abdul, who gave him some tips about performing the Rumba. He will be taking on the dance with his partner Gleb Savchenko during Bond Night.

Shangela Gets Dance Tips from Paula Abdul

Over the weekend, Pierce shared a video of himself out of drag, talking to the former American Idol judge at an event. He wrote on the video, “Paula Abdul blessing me with tips for a good Rumba.”

In the clip Abdul can be heard telling Pierce, “The Rumba is about being fluid and sexy and sensual. Like your strut. It’s the language of love and all you have to do is sell that, and be elongated.”

When Pierce informed her that he would be dancing to the Bond theme “Goldeneye” by Tina Turner, Abdul told him that he “picked the right song.” They shared a hug, and Pierce complimented Abdul’s outfit, jokingly asking if he could borrow it.

Shangela and Savchenko have been doing well this season, earning scores of 28 for both weeks so far, after dancing the Salsa and Quickstep.
